I still remember September 11, 2001. I was in third grade at P.S. 13. Parents were picking up their kids and when my mom came to take me home, I was happy. I had no idea what was happening until I got home and saw the planes hit the Twin Towers on TV. When I saw what was happening, I was devastated. What made it worse was that my mom took out a suitcase just in case we would need to leave. I knew that there was a very small chance we would have to leave, but I wasn’t sure. We’ve been at war since then—more than five years—and I’m a bit concerned.
